Mini Review: Yaro Baskets, Emerald
Recently my sister in law welcomed her beautiful baby boy into the world. We were lucky enough to meet him whilst visiting overseas.
In the weeks leading up hubby was racking his brain trying to think of a great gift.
I mentioned a wrap and he thought about it, but it wasn't until she left a comment on a baby wearing Facebook photo of mine saying "Teach me!" that the idea solidified.
My first line of thought was, hmm my gateway wrap was a Little Frog - hardy, budget friendly, suitable for squishes. Since then I had discovered Didymos Lisca, mouldable, smooshy, buttery soft, extremely newborn friendly! But a little on the pricier side.
However there was another wrap which had captured my curiosity, it was not only tame in design but budget friendly . I spoke to my lovely friend Jo from Frangipani Baby on the suitability for a newborn. She gave it her tick of approval and I was sold! We bought in a base size so that I could teach her FWCC as her first carry.
As it was for a newbie baby wearer and a newborn I washed and steam ironed it as soon as it arrived. I wore it myself a couple of times to help break it in a little for her prior to steaming and gifting it. I know what non-babywearers would think. Ew giving a used gift? But in breaking in the wrap a little you soften it up making it easier and more comfortable for the wearer and wearee.
My first impression was that it was soft and almost buttery to begin with after the steam and the hexagonal pattern created some nice texture and grip.
The green was more of a light teal, which was perfect as it'd compliment many outfits.
The woven fibres are 100% cotton, but I'm certain it smelt like hemp while drying.
On wearing 'A' it held rock solid and was quite comfortable. I don't have picky shoulders, but I'd imagine that it'd be comfortable for those who did.
Passes glided nicely, texture aside and it began to soften with only a couple of wears.
I was a little jealous that my first wrap, although good, wasn't as great as the baskets and for that price!! Ridiculous. The Yaro Baskets are now my go to baby wearing gift wrap (pun intended).
I love enabling *evil laugh* and they are an extremely affordable, newborn to toddler friendly wrap.
I'd recommend them from beginners to advanced, I'm even contemplating buying another to use as my own teaching wrap. Just goes to show, you don't need to spend hundreds to get a quality wrap.
